Mutuso Dhliwayo is an environmental lawyer. He is the Director and a founding member of the Zimbabwe Environmental Law Association (ZELA). He holds a Masters in Constitutional and Human Rights Law degree (LLM) from Midlands State University, Zimbabwe, a Masters degree in Environment and Development from the University of KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa and a Bachelor of Laws Honours degree (LLBS) from the University of Zimbabwe. He is a registered with the High Court of Zimbabwe as a legal practitioner, notary public and conveyancer. He has over 16 years experience in development work on environment and natural resources governance. His work mainly focuses on research, training and capacity building, advocacy, project designing, planning and implementation to influence legal, policy and institutional frameworks.
Mutuso’s key areas of expertise are natural resources governance, transboundary natural resources management, business and human rights, climate change, wildlife, mining and extractives. He also sits in various boards that include the Global Greengrants Advisory Board for Southern Africa, the Private Voluntary Organisations and the African Coalition on Corporate Accountability.
Shamiso Mtisi is the Head of Programmes. He holds a Masters in Law (LLM) in Constitutional and Human Rights Law from Midlands State University. He also holds Bachelor of Laws Honours (LLBS) Degree from the University of Zimbabwe and a Certificate in Environmental Law from the IUCN Graduate Environmental Law Programme. Shamiso is registered with the High Court of Zimbabwe as a legal practitioner, notary public and conveyancor. Mr Mtisi also lecturers Water Law at the University of Zimbabwe’s Faculty of Engineering (Masters Programme on Intergrated Water Resources Management). He has done extensive research and advocacy work on the extractive industries, water resources management, intellectual property rights and farmer's rights. Is a Finance and Administration Officer with ZELA.Tarisai Munemo holds a BSc in Applied Accounting from Oxford Brookes University and is an ACCA finalist .She has more than eight years’ experience in financial and grant management .She has been highly involved in development of financial reporting tools and capacity building of implementing partners.
Nyaradzo Mutonhori is ZELA’s Legal Researcher. She holds a Law Degree and a Masters in Conflict, Security and Development. Nyaradzo is an alumna of the African Leadership Centre and possesses over seven years progressive experience designing and leading research projects. Her research work focuses on legal and policy issues in natural resources and conflict; sovereign wealth funds; extractives sector and human rights. She has a passion for women and strives to ensure that all of her research work has srong gender analyses. Nyaradzo is also the Gender Focal Point person for ZELA. Her responsibility is to implement gender mainstreaming in internally and also within ZELA’s programmes. She also monitors and reports on progress on these aspects. She is also leading various projects on Gender and Extractives notably the research to engender the policy discourse on artisanal and small scale mining.
Veronica Zano is a Legal Officer at ZELA. She holds Bachelor of Laws Honours (LLBS) Degree from the University of Zimbabwe and a Certificate in Promotion of Gender Equality in European Commission Development Co-operation. Veronica can be contacted on veronica[at]zela.org
Mukasiri is a Project Officer responsible for Economic Governance work for ZELA.
Darlington is the Media and Communication Officer for ZELA. He holds a Masters in Peace and Governance and an Undergraduate degree in Media and Society Studies. Darlington is a versatile and rounded development practitioner with knowledge and experience of key policy and developmental issues. A trained communications and governance practitioner, Darlington has advanced skills in communication strategy development and implementation, research, social and behavioural change communication, media management and documentation. Plaxedes John is the Assistant and Finance and Administration Officer. She possesses several years of experience in finance and Administration. Lennin Tinashe Chisaira
Lennin Tinashe Chisaira is an Environmental Lawyer and Researcher with ZELA. He has worked for other organisations such as the Zimbabwe Coalition on Debt and Development (ZIMCODD) and the Zimbabwe Labour Centre (ZLC). He is passionate about the use of alternative media to achieve environmental justice and human rights. He regularly writes and comments on issues relating to economic justice, human rights , leftist democracy and environmental law. He holds a Bachelor of Laws (LLB Hons) degree from the University of Zimbabwe and is currently studying towards an LLM in Economic Regulation with the University of London.
Tafadzwa Oswald Dhlakama
Tafadzwa Oswald Dhlakama is ZELA’s Legal Researcher. He holds LLM (Environmental Law) and an LLB with the University of KwaZulu Natal. Tafadzwa is a young and energetic person with voracious appetite for information and growth in environmental legal and policy issues. He is also the Climate Change and Energy focal point person in this program area for ZELA.
Happymore is a Finance and Administration intern with ZELA.
Farayi Mujeni is a driver and a general projects assistant at ZELA. He joined ZELA in 2007. He holds a clean class 4 defensive driving certificate. He has also attained a National Certificate in Tropical Agriculture, National Foundation Certificate in Horticulture, a National Certificate in Mushroom Culture and Bee Keeping and is currently studying for a Bachelor of Arts in Theology. farai[at]zela.org.
Lucia Mabiza is a Receptionist / Secretary at ZELA. She holds a Receptionist Foundation Certificate and Advanced Receptionist certificate from Speciss College. Lucia also holds a certificate in Basic Counselling Skills on Children from the Zimbabwe Institute of Systemic Therapy. Lucia is currently studying for a Bachelor of Arts in Theology.
