LOCAL SERVICE DELIVERY GOVERNANCE

Poor service delivery by local government authorities is emerging as a major threat to any efforts to fight poverty and justice. This is conceivably likely to continue in the foreseeable future unless if far-reaching democratic local governance reforms and significant resources are invested in the sector. Such actions should be underpinned by proper management of resources and adoption of social accountability measures in service delivery. Local authorities and other public entities are responsible for provision of social services such as water, waste management, sanitation facilities, health facilities, electricity, roads and housing among others.
