The Zimbabwe Environmental Law Association (ZELA)’s Board of Trustees, Management and Staff would like to congratulate its Board Secretary, Mr. Josiah Chinherende, Executive Committee Chairperson, Mr. George Gapu, and Executive Director, Mr. Mutuso Dhliwayo for being certified as Environment, Social and Governance (ESG) practitioners on 11 January 2024 by the CFA Institute. They successfully sat for qualifying examinations in South Africa and are now certified to advise on ESG policy making, provide training on ESG investment, implementation and reporting as well as conduct audits of ESG systems.

ESG issues cut across all sectors of the economy and are essential for businesses to achieve sustainability. The benefits include reducing risks, enhancing business returns, and minimizing environmental and social impacts. ESG is becoming the new norm, and businesses that quickly incorporate it will not only reap economic benefits but also ensure compliance with the inevitable and impending regulations in future.

ZELA is excited that these qualifications lay a strong foundation for our ESG programming for the benefit of our stakeholders that include communities, funding partners, governments, business and civil society organisations.
