BOREHOLE DRILLLING: TENDER ADVERT ZELO/PROC/05/26
1.0 Background.
The Zimbabwe Environmental Law Organisation (ZELO) invites qualified and experienced borehole drilling contractors to submit bids for hydrogeological surveying, drilling, development, testing, and completion of borehole in Bubi District at Dromoland Primary School. The borehole is intended for solar mechanization with a minimum required yield of 1.0 L/s (3600 L/hr).
- Scope of Works
The successful contractor shall:
- Conduct hydrogeological and geophysical surveys.
- Submit survey reports with GPS coordinates and 2D profiles.
- Drill and construct boreholes to minimum depth of 80m.
- Install approved uPVC/steel casing and screens.
- Conduct borehole development and disinfection.
- Carry out 12-hour pumping and recovery tests.
- Conduct physical and chemical water quality tests.
- Submit drilling logs, construction logs, and completion reports.
- Construction of drainage channels;
- Installation of protective fencing around the borehole;
- Installation of lockable pump housing where necessary.
- Complete all works within 21 days of contract signing.

- Standards & Quality Requirements
All materials must comply with recognized international or regional standards, including:
- ISO
- NSF/ANSI
- SANS
- ZWS
Third-party inspection and verification may be conducted before installation.
- Required Deliverables
The contractor shall submit:
- Hydrogeological survey reports
- 2D geophysical profiles
- Borehole drilling logs
- Lithological logs
- Pump test and recovery test data
- Water quality test reports
- Borehole construction records
- Completion certificates signed by relevant authorities
- Maintenance period 1 year
- Financial Proposal Requirements
Bidders must submit detailed and itemized financial proposals showing:
- Drilling rate per meter
- Mobilization and demobilization costs
- Double casing costs
- Additional drilling rates beyond 80m
- Material supply costs
- VAT (where applicable)
Both technical and financial proposals must be submitted separately.

8.0 Terms and Conditions
- Boreholes yielding less than 1.0 L/s will be considered dry holes.
- Contractors are responsible for siting productive boreholes.
- All defective works during the 1-year maintenance period must be corrected by the contractor.
- ZELO will retain 10% retention money for 3 months after completion.
- ZELO reserves the right to accept or reject any bid without giving reasons.
