Relevant considerations for development of a domestic legislation on mandatory human rights and environmental due diligence in Zimbabwe

Victims often struggle to hold businesses accountable for violations impacting health and quality of life, with limited avenues for justice, especially for vulnerable groups like women, disabled persons, and children. Navigating complex legal and financial barriers, along with intimidation from powerful corporations, further complicates the pursuit of justice. There is an opportunity for the government to enhance protections by implementing mandatory measures to hold corporations accountable for their impact on people and the environment. Noting this situation,  ZELA and ACCA have developed this policy brief with considerations for the country to adopt mandatory human rights and environmental due diligence laws (mHREDD) which could provide better opportunities for justice in these situations.
