Zimbabwe Environmental Law Organisation Appoints Obert Bore as Programmes Manager

The Zimbabwe Environmental Law Organisation (ZELO) is pleased to announce the appointment of Obert Bore as its new Programmes Manager with effect from 1 September,2025. This appointment comes as ZELO embarks on a new organisational strategy to deepen its focus on trade and investment, corporate accountability, and climate and energy governance.

Bore, who joined ZELO in 2021, has a distinguished background in international trade law and investment. A lawyer by training, he specialises in the intersection of trade, business, and human rights, with a strong focus on the mining sector in Zimbabwe and the Southern Africa region. His previous work at ZELO includes leading the Responsible Business, Trade and Investment Program and focusing on Chinese investments in Africa.

A Global Reporting Initiative certified Environmental Social and Governance (ESG) professional, Bore is a 2017 Mandela Rhodes Scholar and a 2023 Canon Collins Scholar. He holds a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) degree (cum laude) from the University of Venda and a Master of Law (LL.M) with distinction in International Trade Law from the University of Cape Town. He also lectures International Trade Law at the University of Zimbabwe and is currently completing a second LL.M in Environmental Law and Governance with Northwest University.

In his new role, Bore will focus on strengthening ZELO’s programs by amplifying community voices, influencing policy, and building sustainable initiatives for long-term impact.
